API ReferenceGetting Started
Sign up for a free Convertly account at convertly.buzz. No credit card required — the Free plan gives you 3 quizzes, 50 leads per month, and 2 AI-generated quizzes to get started. After signing in, you'll land on your Dashboard with an overview of your quizzes, recent leads, and usage stats.
To create your first quiz, go to Dashboard > Quizzes and click Create Quiz. You have three starting options: build from scratch with a blank quiz, pick one of the 6 pre-built templates (Lead Qualification, Product Match, Marketing Audit, Knowledge Quiz, Personality Quiz, ROI Calculator), or let AI generate a quiz tailored to your industry.
The quiz builder has four tabs: Questions (add and reorder questions with 4 answer options each), Scoring (define score ranges and optional category scoring), Design (upload your logo, set brand colors), and Settings (configure lead capture position, webhooks, integrations, and embed options).
Each answer option has a point value (0-10). When a visitor completes your quiz, their total score determines which result they see. Define score ranges like "Hot Lead (36-50)" or "Needs Nurturing (0-19)" — each with a custom title and message.
When your quiz is ready, click Publish in the top-right corner. Your quiz gets a shareable link at convertly.buzz/q/your-quiz-slug. You can also embed it on your website or share it via social media. Leads start appearing in your dashboard as soon as visitors complete the quiz.
Quiz Builder
The quiz builder is a drag-and-drop editor where you create and manage all aspects of your quiz. Each quiz consists of questions (with 4 answer options each), score ranges (result categories based on total score), and optional categories for multi-dimensional scoring.
Add questions from the Questions tab. Each question has a text field and exactly 4 answer options. Assign point values (0-10) to each option — these determine how the respondent scores. Drag to reorder questions. You can also add images to questions to make them more engaging.
The Scoring tab is where you define what results your respondents see. Create 3-4 score ranges that cover the full point range (0 to questions x 10). Each range has a title (e.g., "Expert", "Beginner"), a message (personalized feedback), and optional CTA buttons with custom URLs for driving next actions.
For advanced assessments, enable Category Scoring (Pro+). This lets you group questions into categories like "Marketing", "Sales", "Operations" — each with its own color, score ranges, and personalized feedback. Results show a radar chart with per-category breakdowns alongside the global score.
The Design tab lets you upload your logo, pick a brand color (applied to buttons, progress bar, and accents), and toggle PDF report settings. Pro and Business plans can remove the "Powered by Convertly" badge for a fully white-labeled experience.
Use the Preview button to test your quiz exactly as respondents will see it. The live preview updates in real-time as you make changes. All changes are auto-saved — the builder batches your edits and syncs them to the server automatically.
AI Generation
The AI Quiz Generator creates a complete, ready-to-publish quiz in under 2 minutes. Go to Dashboard > Quizzes > Generate with AI. Choose from 8 industry presets (Mortgage, Insurance, Coaching, Marketing, E-commerce, Fitness, Nutrition, Education) or describe your own custom topic.
Configure your quiz by specifying the topic, target audience, and goal (e.g., lead qualification, product recommendation, education). Select the number of questions (5, 7, or 10) and the language (English or Polish). For 7+ questions, the AI automatically creates category scoring with distinct assessment dimensions.
The AI generates scored questions with varied point distributions, 3-4 result categories with personalized messages, and (for larger quizzes) per-category breakdowns. Industry presets include optimized prompts — for example, the Mortgage preset focuses on financial readiness, employment stability, and credit history.
After generation, your quiz opens in the builder where you can edit any question, adjust scoring, tweak messages, or add branding. The AI output is a starting point — customize it to match your voice and business needs.
AI generation limits depend on your plan: Free gets 2 generations per month, Pro gets 20, and Business gets 50. The counter resets on the 1st of each month. Each generated quiz also counts toward your quiz creation limit.
Lead Capture
Every quiz includes a lead capture form that collects the respondent's name and email. By default, the form appears at the end of the quiz before showing results. You can change this in quiz settings to capture leads at the start (before any questions), in the middle (after half the questions), or at the end (default).
When you collect leads at the start or middle, Convertly creates a partial lead immediately — so even if the respondent abandons the quiz, you still have their contact info. The lead is finalized with their score when they complete the quiz. Industry data shows early capture collects up to 3x more contacts from visitors who would otherwise leave.
All captured leads appear in Dashboard > Leads. Each lead shows their name, email, quiz, total score, result category, and completion date. Use the search and filter tools to find specific leads. Pro and Business plans can export leads to CSV for use in external tools.
Convertly automatically sends a results email to each lead with their score and personalized result message. Quiz owners receive a notification email for every new lead. On Pro+ plans with PDF Reports enabled, leads can also receive their results as a branded PDF attachment.
Lead capture is subject to monthly limits: Free allows 50 leads/month, Pro allows 1,000, and Business is unlimited. When you reach your limit on Free, new leads are still captured but marked as locked until you upgrade. You'll receive a warning email at 80% usage.
Customization
Convertly lets you fully brand your quizzes. In the Design tab, upload your company logo (displayed on the quiz header and PDF reports) and set your brand color — this is applied to buttons, progress bars, score badges, and accent elements throughout the quiz.
Pro and Business plans include full custom branding. The "Powered by Convertly" footer is removed from your quiz results page, giving your quiz a completely white-labeled appearance. Free plan quizzes always show the Convertly attribution.
Customize the results page for each score range individually. Write a unique message, add a call-to-action button with a custom URL (e.g., link to your booking page or product), and tailor the experience based on how the respondent scored. This turns your quiz results into a personalized sales or onboarding funnel.
With PDF Reports (Pro+), quiz results are exportable as branded PDF documents. The PDF includes the respondent's score, per-category breakdown (if using category scoring), all their answers, and your logo and brand colors. You can enable automatic email delivery of PDF results and let respondents download their report directly from the results page.
For advanced quizzes using Category Scoring, each category gets its own color (displayed in the radar chart and badges), independent score ranges with tailored messages, and a dedicated section in the PDF report. This gives respondents a rich, multi-dimensional assessment of their results.
Integrations
Convertly natively integrates with popular email marketing platforms and CRM systems. Supported providers: GetResponse, Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, Klaviyo, HubSpot, and Pipedrive. When a lead completes your quiz, their contact details and quiz results are automatically synced to your connected platforms.
To set up an integration, go to Dashboard > Integrations. Each provider has its own card where you enter your API key (or access token), test the connection, and select a default list or campaign. For email platforms, you choose which list new leads are added to. CRM integrations (HubSpot, Pipedrive) sync contacts directly without requiring a list selection.
Once connected, integrations are enabled for all your quizzes by default. To control which quizzes sync to which integrations, open your quiz in the builder, go to the Settings tab, and use the integration toggles under Email Marketing Integrations. You can pause or disable any integration for a specific quiz without affecting other quizzes.
For each lead synced, Convertly sends the contact name, email, and quiz metadata. Email platforms receive auto-generated tags (quiz slug + result category). HubSpot receives quiz_title, quiz_score, and quiz_result as contact properties. Pipedrive creates a new person with the lead's email.
For broader automation, Convertly also integrates with Zapier, giving you access to 6,000+ apps without code. The Zapier integration uses REST Hooks — when a lead completes a quiz, Convertly sends a real-time POST to your Zap. Set up your Zapier connection using your Convertly API key.
You can also configure webhook URLs directly in each quiz's settings. When a lead submits a quiz, Convertly sends a POST request to your webhook URL with a JSON payload containing the event type, quiz details, and lead data. Webhooks use a 10-second timeout and fire-and-forget delivery.

Team Management
Business plan subscribers can invite up to 3 team members to collaborate on quizzes and leads. Go to Dashboard > Team and invite colleagues by email. Invited members receive an email invitation and can join using an existing Convertly account or by creating a new one.
Team members have full access to the same quizzes, leads, analytics, and integrations as the account owner. All activity — quiz creation, lead capture, API usage, and AI generations — counts toward the team owner's plan limits, not individual member limits.
To remove a team member, go to Dashboard > Team and click Remove next to their name. Removed members immediately lose access to the team's quizzes and leads. You can re-invite them at any time — their previous work is preserved.
Team management is exclusive to the Business plan ($79/month). Free and Pro plans are single-user only. If you need more than 3 team members, contact support for custom enterprise arrangements.
Analytics
Analytics are available on Pro and Business plans. The analytics dashboard shows you how your quizzes are performing — total views, completion rate, average score, and total leads captured over time. Filter by date range (7 days, 30 days, 90 days) to track trends.
The completion tracking chart shows where respondents drop off. If many visitors leave at a specific question, that's a signal to simplify or rewrite it. Use this data to optimize your quiz for higher completion rates — even small improvements in drop-off can significantly increase lead volume.
Score distribution charts show how your respondents are scoring across all your result categories. This helps you validate that your scoring model is balanced — if 90% of respondents land in one category, your point values may need adjustment. A well-calibrated quiz distributes respondents roughly evenly across categories.
Each quiz has its own analytics view accessible from Dashboard > Analytics or by clicking the analytics icon next to any quiz. Compare performance across quizzes to identify your best-performing content and replicate what works.
Analytics data is scoped to your selected date range and updates in real-time as new leads come in. Free plan users see a basic dashboard with total quizzes and leads only — upgrade to Pro for the full analytics suite.
Billing & Plans
Convertly offers three plans: Free ($0/month, permanent), Pro ($29/month), and Business ($79/month). Both paid plans are available with monthly or annual billing — annual plans save roughly 20%. All payments are processed securely through Paddle as our merchant of record.
The Free plan is designed to let you try Convertly without commitment. You get 3 quizzes, 50 leads per month, 2 AI generations, and access to all 6 quiz templates. When you're ready for more, upgrade directly from your dashboard.
The Pro plan unlocks 20 quizzes, 1,000 leads/month, custom branding, analytics, CSV export, embed widgets, webhooks, native integrations (GetResponse, Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, Klaviyo, HubSpot, Pipedrive), Zapier, category scoring, and PDF reports. It's ideal for marketers and small businesses actively generating leads.
The Business plan removes all limits — unlimited quizzes and leads, 50 AI generations, up to 5 webhooks, full REST API access (read + write), 3 team members, custom domains for white-label hosting, and priority support. Built for agencies and growing teams.
You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel anytime from Dashboard > Account. Downgrades take effect at the end of your billing period. If you downgrade and exceed your new plan's limits, existing quizzes and leads are preserved but new creation is paused until you're within limits.
